Migration to new Server
Is there a migration path to setup a new Wing FTP server, We are looking to upgrade the HW and OS and would like to just migrate all users and settings to this new box. Is there an article on how exactly to do this, we have over 150 users, so changing all of those passwords would be prohibitively difficult.

Re: Migration to new Server
You just need to copy the entire folder "/Data".

Good morning, I am doing the same thing and was wondering if there is anything special that needs to be done in order to move the license from one server to the new replacement server.
Thanks
Thanks

You just need to make sure you have the same data file/folder location.

Re: Migration to new Server
Hello,
we also need to migrate to new server.
We use very often weblinks to send files to our customers.
We have one folder called "FTP users" containing each user data folder with uploaded files
If we copy this whole folder to the new server mantaining the same exact Folder location, (in our case C:\Users\user\Desktop\Cartelle FTP) will the old weblinks keep working or is not possible to have them working after migration?
Thank you

Yes, if you move the uploaded files folder into the same place, then all the web links will work fine in the new server.impact wrote:Hello,

Re: Migration to new Server
We are planning to move WingFTP to a new server. We have a subfolder structure which contains our weblinks. We plan to carry this subfolder over intact and make it the new root for WingFTP, but its relative position in the server's filesystem will change.
In other words, what is currently under:
D:\WingFTP\NewFolderStructure...
will become:
D:\NewFolderStructure...
Will the links under NewFolderStructure work, or will we need to recreate them?

Re: Migration to new Server
What does the folder "D:\NewFolderStructure" mean? Folder for storing files? Or WingFTP's installation folder? If you mean the WingFTP's folder, then all the weblinks can keep the same.

Re: Migration to new Server
"D:\NewFolderStructure" means only the file storage folder. Would changing the root of the file storage folder break weblinks?

Re: Migration to new Server
Yes, of course, if you changed the file storage folder, all the weblinks will be invalid, so you need to generate the weblinks again.
