If "C:\Program Files (x86)" is not used as the installation directory, the Administrator will only use IE. Which will not work.
in addition, there is a missing feature: changing where log files and data files are stored.

You can install WingFTP in the non-default folder, but English characters are required for the installation folder path, and you also need to check on the option "Use Default Browser".
Data folder's path can't be customized, but we will consider to support custom log path in the next release.

On Win2019 Server , installing to a directory C:\programs caused the Web Administrator application to only use IE, regardless of 'Use Default' setting. See the 'Support' thread.

I just tested it again by installing to a directory "c:\programs", everything is fine, I can open the web admin via Edge. So did you make Edge as the default browser? If you did not, please check on the Edge option "Settings -> Default browser -> Make default".
