Changes to the users homedirectory revert automatically

Hi,
every time I change a home directory entry using the Web Administrator and login using (e.g. FileZilla) this user, the change to the home directory is reverted.
I open a user, go to the Directory register, edit an entry, click on OK to close the directory window and on OK to close the user window.
I reopen the user and my changes are still there.
Next I login with this account using FileZilla or any other FTP client and can already see that the changes have no effect.
Now, when I reopen the user in the Web Administrator I can see, that my change is reverted. Tried it several times, with several users to no avail...
What am I doing wrong?
